International Scouting
The mission of the Capitol Area Council International Committee is to promote interaction between our council’s Scouts and Scouts of other countries. The Committee was formed in August 2008. Goals for this program year include:
- Encourage local unit participation in Jamboree-on-the Air/Internet
- Facilitate hiring an international camp staffer at Lost Pines for summer 2009
- Promote BSA Badges for International Scouting
- Start a “bank” of qualified Council Scouts -- for nomination to the International Division, BSA -- to participate in BSA exchanges with other National Scouting Organizations
In the future, as the Committee grows and gains experience, we plan to also:
- Facilitate local participation in World Jamborees/ other international events
- Facilitate exchanges (sister city, etc.) at the unit level (Hosted visits by Scouts from other countries; Reciprocal visits by Capitol Area Council Scouts)
