Scouting Dedicates 2011 Eagle Home

Austin Boy Scouts teamed up Saturday with Habitat for Humanity to welcome a family to their new home.The new homeowners got the keys to the 2011 Eagle Home. The home was built primarily by scouts over the age of 16 and adult Eagle Scout volunteers.Scout leaders said they hope to be able to build a new home every year."It's an honor to be in partnership with Austin Habitat for Humanity," said Shirley Sanders, district executive for Boy Scouts. "They help us, they guide us on how to build the house. We're just providing the time, the effort, the energy to make it a reality."As part of the dedication, Boy Scouts from Pearce Middle School set up some scouting activities and demonstrations for children in the neighborhood.
