Wildfire update, Monday September 5   8:45pm:

Portions of Griffith League Scout Ranch are still burning tonight, nearly 1,000 acres in all since the fire first spread to the property Sunday.

Elgin and McDade Fire Department units have been hard at work on the property today and helicopters have been dropping water preventatively on areas of GLSR that have not been burned.

Texas Forest Service crews built new fire breaks during the day today. Council staff moved all program equipment from GLSR to Lost Pines, in the event the fire spreads to storage structures.

Lost Pines is still unaffected by the fires.

We have learned of some Scouting families that have lost their homes in the fires. Our hearts go out to them and our prayers go up for them.
