Bastrop Fires Affect CAC Camps

Wildfires across Bastrop County have impacted our Griffith League Scout Ranch and is threatening Lost Pines Scout Reservation. The video below is from Sunday, September 4, 2011 in the Southeast corner of the Griffith League Scout Ranch property. As of 9:30pm on September 4, we estimate the fire has damaged between 800-1,000 acres of Griffith League camp property. However, the C.O.P.E. course on GLSR has not been damaged.
As of this posting, the fire has crept to within 250 yards of the property line of the Lost Pines Scout Reservation in Bastrop, but so far has not damaged any Lost Pines or Cub World property. Camp Rangers and Capitol Area Council leadership will continue to monitor the situation and assess the fire's position in the morning.
All Scout volunteers are asked to stay away from either Griffith League or Lost Pines. Due to the high winds, we will continue to take a defensive position that does not put any of our staff in danger.
