BASTROP FIRE UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 8

Lost Pines Boy Scout Camp, Cub World at Camp Tom Wooten, Griffith League Scout Ranch and Roy D. Rivers Wilderness Camp remain closed until further notice. Camp Alma McHenry, Camp Green Dickson and Wolf Mountain Scout Ranch are open for camping.

Apparently there is word in the grapevine that parts of LPSR and/or Cub World are one fire currently. This is not true, despite what the burn map on many news websites shows. While the Bastrop fire has come within one mile of the camp boundaries, it has not - repeat, has not - crossed onto LPSR and/or Cub World property.

Volunteer leadership from our Properties Committee has been able to perform an on-site accounting of the fire damage at Griffith League Scout Ranch. When you combine this summer's fire damage with the damage from last year's wildfire, between 2,500 and 3,000 acres of the camp have burned. This represents nearly 60% of the total acreage at Griffith League. Despite that damage, the C.O.P.E. course was not damaged.
