I’m very pleased to announce that the Scout Executive Selection Committee has hired Jon C. Yates as Scout Executive of the Capitol Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, effective February 1, 2012.

Jon brings 19 years of experience working in the Sam Houston Area Council, most recently as Director of Field Service. He is an Eagle Scout, a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow and has completed Wood Badge training. The experience of earning the William Hornaday Award as a youth influenced his decision to pursue a degree in Forestry from Texas A&M University. 

Jon and his wife Shelly have two children: Amanda, 9 and Justin, 7.
