It is with mixed emotions that, I announce today that our Scout Executive, J.T. Dabbs, has been selected as the new Scout Executive of the Greater Alabama Council, effective December 5, 2011.

J.T. has provided the Capitol Area Council with tremendous leadership during his tenure. He has been instrumental in leading us through a tough Capital Campaign, resulting in the recent opening of the Frank Fickett Scout Training and Service Center. Additionally, he has guided our council to a current ranking of #1 among councils in the United States according to the Boy Scouts of America’s new Journey to Excellence program.

Please join me in wishing J.T. and his family the best as they return home to Alabama. While they will be tremendously missed, we are very excited for them with regard to their future opportunity in Alabama.

Our search for a new Scout Executive will begin immediately. We have an outstanding council, geographically located in a great part of the country. I am certain that we will attract a strong list of replacement candidates, enabling us to continue to reach new heights.
