DOK’s Tower is located at Lost Pines Scout Reservation near Bastrop and is the tallest climbing tower in Texas. The tower is the centerpiece of our council’s climbing program, operating during Scouts BSA Summer Camp, Winter Camp, and during other weekend events during the year.
Scouts BSA Troops, Venturing Crews, and Sea Scouting Ships can reserve the tower for use during weekend camping – but only if the Scout unit has an adult leader who is BSA-certified as a Climbing Instructor.
Currently certified climbing instructors can reserve DOK’s Tower.
You can also take your unit climbing at natural areas like Enchanted Rock, Reimers Ranch, and more. But, you’ll first need to complete the Climbing Instructor training courses for DOK’s Tower and then the Natural Areas training.
Our council has two C.O.P.E. courses, one at Lost Pines Scout Reservation and a more advanced one at Griffith League Scout Ranch (both near Bastrop). C.O.P.E. (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) uses mental and physical challenges, low and high above ground to teach confidence, self-esteem, trust, leadership, team building and problem solving. C.O.P.E. participants climb, swing, balance, jump and think of solutions to a variety of activities.
