STEMboree
A Day of STEM for the whole family
Enjoy robots, engineering, “makers”, drones, and more while visiting with scientists and experts who can get your kids excited about science and discovery!
STEMboree is a fun, free event open for Scouts of any age, with award classes for Cub Scouts or Scouts BSA Scouts. Family members and siblings are also welcome, too. The event takes place in the spring at Smilin V Scout Ranch.
The event typically has two parts:
- an open “midway” of displays and activities that looks a little like a science fair but is much more hands-on, plus
- a schedule of classes for Cub Scouts or Scouts BSA Scouts to earn one or more of the Boy Scouts of America’s Nova Awards.
Nova Awards are patches, pins, and medals that Scouts can earn by exploring particular subject areas dealing with science, technology, engineering, and math (you can learn more about them here). For this event, the award classes are just for Cub Scouts or Scouts BSA Scouts… but anyone can enjoy the midway of activities. And, you can come and go during the event in case you have another activity happening during the middle of the day but didn’t get to see everything you wanted.
The next STEMboree takes place March 26-27, 2022.
How do we sign up?
It depends on what you want to do:
- The event is free and does not require registration if you just want to bring your Scout and family to check out the activities and displays in the midway.
- If you have a Cub Scout or Scouts BSA Scout who wants to sign up for one of the Nova Award classes, then you do need to sign them up for your class of choice; just use the link below. There is a small fee for each class.
